Candy Crush Saga was one of the first mobile games I remember playing often. Overall I enjoy the game, and I like the changes made over the years.

I started playing Candy Crush Soda Saga after playing the first game. At the time, I thought the game was fun but very hard.
I still play the game often.
What Game Is More Fun to Play?

Both games are match three games. You make matches to make powerups and to solve puzzles.
In Candy Crush Soda Saga, there are two new powerups you can create. Fish Candy and Coloring Candy.
Both of these powerups are very fun to create and use. Candy Crush Soda Saga is the better game because it adds to what makes the first game good.
Candy Crush Soda Saga also has some level types that the first game can’t. There are levels with multiple areas and, it feels more fun to play.
Level Types Compared
The levels in Candy Crush Saga are pretty iconic. Many games copy the basic level types found in this game, and you see them everywhere.
Drop things to the bottom of levels, collect stuff, remove stuff, etc.
The levels found in Candy Crush Soda Saga are similar. But I feel Candy Crush Soda Saga does things better.
Game Events and Extra Content Compared
The events in both games are very similar. It should be noted that Candy Crush Soda Saga tested and tried game events before the older Candy Crush Saga did.
Candy Crush Soda Saga has slightly more fun events, and I think they are more fun.

Candy Crush Soda Saga is a more fun game. The levels have more elements in them, and it expands on and adds to Candy Crush Saga.

Candy Crush Soda Saga is an improvement in many ways. It is more fun and interesting to play overall.
What Game Is Less Annoying?

Candy Crush Saga shows ads. But not too often. But ads will show occasionally at the end of levels.
King tends to promote their games more than show ads for other games.
Candy Crush Soda Saga mostly only shows ads while watching videos for rewards. King also uses the game to promote other King games.
Other Annoyances
Both games nag you for various reasons. Often the games will try to get you to spend money on gold bars.
King is not shy about reminding you to use or buy gold bars.
Both games are about equally the same in terms of what is more annoying.

I can’t be bothered to decide what game is less annoying when they both are annoying for the same
reasons.
Overall I like that King has fewer ads. But the developer tries to get you to spend money in other annoying ways instead.
What Game has the Better Presentation?
Appearance Comparison
Both games look pretty neat now. But I feel the animation in Candy Crush Soda Saga is just a little better.
Sound Comparison
The songs in Candy Crush Soda Saga sound better overall. They have an orchestrated feel to them.
Candy Crush Soda Saga has more variety in songs. There are multiple songs for stages as you play them. In Candy Crush Soda Saga, there is only one song.
The one song in Candy Crush Soda Saga is nice. But it would have helped for there to be more than just one song during levels.
I like the one song in Candy Crush Soda Saga better, but I like the multiple songs in Candy Crush Saga.
Factoring in nostalgia, I prefer Candy Crush Saga songs slightly more.
Candy Crush Soda Saga Has the Better Presentation
Candy Crush Soda Saga overall looks and sounds better.
But Candy Crush Saga now looks about as good after King updated the game.
Overall Thoughts on Both Games
Candy Crush Saga is fun. But Candy Crush Soda Saga improves the game in many ways. I am very happy King decided to release the second game.

Like I mentioned before, Candy Crush Soda Saga adds to Candy Crush Saga and improves the game in many ways.
While I play and enjoy both games, I like the Soda Saga more.
I highly recommend playing Candy Crush Soda Saga if you like Candy Crush games.
