Candy Crush Soda Saga Review Information

Candy Crush Soda Saga is a match three puzzle game. So what is different in the second Candy Crush game? Is it any better than the first game? Read this review to find out!

I have played this game a lot around the time King originally released it. I have not played the game much since, though.

For this review, I have recently been playing the game this past few weeks.

I was on level 664 by the time of this review. I also participated in some team events and challenges.

Gameplay Review

This Game Is a Big Improvement Over the Original Game

One of the things that first stood out to me about Soda Saga compared to the original Candy Crush Saga is how improved the game is.

This game has many improvements over the original, and I prefer playing it a lot more.

The Powerups Are More Fun to Use

The game has more powerups you can create compared to the original game.

You can create Candy Fish now by making a square match. This seems like a very small change, but it is a very fun powerup to make.

There is also a new powerup called the Coloring Candy. It is very similar to the color bomb, and it has similar uses. This is also very fun to use.

The Levels Are More Varied and More Dynamic

Both games are match three puzzle games. The goal is to solve a certain objective at every level.

In the original Candy Crush Saga levels only took place on one screen. What you saw was what you got.

In Soda Saga levels can take place across multiple screens. Also, candies can flow in multiple directions instead of just from the top of the screen to the bottom.

Because of these changes, there are more level types, and the levels feel more unique and more fun to play.

The New Level Types Are More Fun

Also, the game to me has more fun level objectives.

They are somewhat similar to the level types found in the original game. For example, Frosting Levels can easily be compared to Jelly Levels.

While the level types are not that different, the objectives are more refined and interesting.

The Game Has Many Events and Things to Do

While the original Candy Crush Saga game now also has a lot of events for historic purposes, it should be noted that Soda Saga originally had way more events and free things in it.

You don’t feel starved of powerups and boosters in the game. You can get plenty by playing in the many team based events found in the game.

The team based events are nice. When you get placed on a team of people who actually do anything.

I know that is somewhat hard of an issue to deal with, but it is quite annoying to be placed on a team and be the only person actually contributing to anything.

It would be nice if King would use a filter or something that only adds people to teams who played in the last week or something like that.

Presentation Review

How the Game Looks

When the Candy Crush Soda Saga was originally released, it looked much better compared to the original candy Crush Saga.

It was clear at the time King put a lot of effort into making this game look and sound better.

Now both games look about the same. King has made the original game look better as well.

Soda Saga Has Great Animation

Just like the original Candy Crush, this game is very fluid and fast. You do not spend much time waiting for things to happen.

Less Songs but a Better Sounding Soundtrack

Compared to the original Candy Crush, this game has less music in it. But the song that plays to me is much better.

The level song makes you feel you are going on a journey compared to the original game, which had more relaxing background music.

I like the music in Soda Saga more compared to the original game.

How Does This Game Get You to Spend Money?

King is well known for having microtransactions in their games. This game is no different.

There are gold bars you can buy. You use this currency in many ways, and it normally used to make the game easier when you are stuck on hard levels.

The one thing I have learned about King is how subtle they are when trying got convince you to spend more money.

When you fail a level, the game tells you how many people spend money to continue instead of starting over. The game makes you feel as you have failed by showing you everything you lose.

When your piggy bank is full, the game shows gold bars breaking in front of it in a way to get you to spend money to open it.

All of these little marketing tricks and hacks start to become annoying after a while.

Is This Game Fair for People Who Don’t Spend Money?

Yes, it is. You get many powerups and boosters from playing the game often. While some levels are more annoying than others, there has not been a level I could not beat without enough time.

How Does This Game Annoy You?

It does not very much actually. The only real annoyances are how persistent this game is about trying to get you to buy something.

A annoying message the game shows you when you want to quit levels.

My Overall Thoughts on Candy Crush Soda Saga

Candy Crush Soda Saga is a much better game compared to the original game.

I feel compared to future games, Candy Crush Soda Saga has the most changes and changed Candy Crush for the better. Soda Saga is the Candy Crush game I like the most.

Do I Recommend People Play Candy Crush Soda Saga?

I would recommend this game over any other Candy Crush game. It is much better compared to the original Candy Crush Saga.

The future Jelly Saga and Friends Saga games don’t change that much from this game, and everything is about the same.

Will I Play Candy Crush Soda Saga After Reviewing It?

Yes. I don’t play the game too often. But I plan on writing more guides for the game, and I somewhat enjoy playing it still.
